August 2007  - Aldeburgh Museum Gains National Accreditation.

Aldeburgh Museum, which has been a Registered Museum for the last ten years, has now been officially 'Accredited' by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and can now display their official logo.

The Museum Accreditation Scheme sets nationally agreed standards for all museums in the United Kingdom. Aldeburgh Museum's award proves that it meets the national guidelines on how it is run, how it looks after its collections and the services it provides its visitors. The Management Team have worked hard for eighteen months to complete the application process for this accreditation. Their dedicated team works away behind the scenes and recognition of their efforts is well deserved. Mark Wood, Chair of MLA, said 'Being awarded Accreditation is an impressive achievement. It recognises the high standard and service that Aldeburgh Museum provides and acknowledges the hard work of the staff. Many congratulations!'

April 2007

Aldeburgh Museum re-opens to the public at Easter this year with a lively new display depicting the town's history from early Roman times up to the present day. This display, produced by Diana Hughes and Herring Bone Designs of Aldeburgh, brings Aldeburgh History to life in a way that appeals to young and old alike. Also now on view is a fascinating scale model of the lost village of Slaughden based on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1882.

Images from our photographic archive are now  available to purchase for a modest price.
