Having supported the expansion of the hospital in the early 1990s, the League of Friends has funded in 2004 a major extension and refurbishment programme. In 2008 a new dialysis unit was opened saving patients a trip to Ipswich several times a week. Current and recent projects include:

A new conservatory which will provide a dining room for inpatients. This is due to open in late 2010.

A new patient entertainment system with individual televisions for patients and a choice of TV and radio channels. This is currently being installed.

Nintendo Wii games consoles to promote better balance and provide mental stimulation for day centre clients. These are in daily use.

Heated food trolleys and an ice making machine. These in daily use.
